For the similarly named Italian World War II armoured car, see Lince scout car. IVECO LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle) is a 4WD tactical vehicle developed by IVECO, and in service with several countries. After its adoption by the Italian Army under the name VTLM Lince (Lynx), it won the “FCLV” (Future Command and Liaison Vehicle) competition of the British Army as the Panther and has been adopted by the armies of Belgium, Croatia, Norway and Spain. The Italian Army took vehicles to both Afghanistan and Lebanon. In Afghanistan the Lince vehicles have proved decisive in saving passenger's lives in several attacks with IED. Contents 1 Design 2 Variants 2.1 Panther CLV 2.2 Other variants 3 Operators 4 See also 5 References 6 External links [edit] Design Croatian Iveco LMV The LMV uses modular armor packs to adjust its level of protection to its mission requirements.[2] As regards mine protection the vehicle's height from the ground has been increased to 493 mm without augmenting the overall height (less than 2 meters); it uses also suspended seats of aeronautical derivation, v-hull under body, and a collapsible sandwich structure in the floor to deflect and absorb mine blasts. Its exhaust is piped through its C-pillars, and its turbocharger is located underneath the engine to reduce its thermal signature. Mobility is helped by a run-flat system, allowing the vehicle to move even with completely deflated tires. [edit] Variants [edit] Panther CLV The Panther Command and Liaison Vehicle or Panther CLV is the British Army variant of Iveco LMV. The Panther CLV came from the "Future Command and Liaison Vehicle" (FCLV) project. Design modifications were made by BAE Systems to allow assembly at BAE Systems Land Systems' factory in Newcastle upon Tyne. The Panther seats 4, while the VTLM Lince seats 5. Over 400 Panthers are now being assembled at BAE Systems factory in Newcastle upon Tyne under a £160 million contract. It is intended that the Panther will replace vehicles including Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (tracked) (CVRT), Fighting Vehicle FV 432, Saxon and Land Rover Truck Utility Medium (TUM). [3] The armour protection is tuneable by the replacement of armour packs within the vehicle's external skin. The basic add-on armour pack provides ballistic protection against small arms fire and a heavier kit provides protection against ambush including mines. Panther Command and Liaison Vehicle (CLV) are equipped with Enforcer RCWS weapons stations which are developed by SELEX Galileo. The weapon station can be armed with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun or a 40mm automatic grenade launcher. The first Panthers have been delivered to the 1st Mechanised Brigade (United Kingdom) and handfuls are undergoing hot weather trials in Afghanistan. [3] [edit] Other variants The LMV is available in two different wheelbases, 3.2 m (126.0 in) and 3.5 m (137.8 in).[2] A two door, two seater is also available.[2] [edit] Operators Iveco LMV operators  Italy: Italian Army, Italian Navy (more than 1,200 Iveco LMV)  United Kingdom: British Army (401 Panther CLV + 400 on option)  Belgium: Belgian Land Component (440 Iveco LMV + 400 on option + 120 up-protection kit)  Bosnia: Armed Forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina (12 leased for testing + 2 up-protection kit)  Norway: Norwegian Army (107 Iveco LMV + 63 on option)  Croatia: Croatian Army (94 Iveco LMV vehicles to be delivered by 2012, 6 of which as field ambulance versions)  Spain: Spanish Army (185 Iveco LMV with potential future orders for 400+)  Czech Republic: Czech Army (19 Iveco LMV with potential future order for 100+)  Austria: Austrian Army (150 Iveco LMV)  Slovakia: Slovak Army (40 Iveco M65E 4x4 LMV) [4]  Russia: Russian Army (2 Iveco LMV vehicles were purchased for tests, Local licensed production under consideration[5] [edit] See also FMC XR311 Mowag Eagle ATF Dingo GAZ-2975 Humvee Tiuna URO VAMTAC MAV5 armoured personnel carrier AMZ Żubr AMZ Tur [edit] References ^ a b c Multi-Role Light Vehicle (MLV/FCLV) ^ a b c d Army Technology - British Army - FCLV (Future Command and Liaison Vehicle) ^ a b "Defence News : mod.uk". http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/DefenceNews/EquipmentAndLogistics/RangeOfNewDefenceEquipmentUnveiledAtGiantEvent.htm.  ^ [1][dead link] ^ Russia's plans to set up Local Iveco LMV licensed production for army needs (Russian) [edit] External links Wikimedia Commons has media related to: Iveco LMV Panther CLV Project Details on Army Technology Defence Update article on the Panther Panther Command and Liaison Vehicle (CLV) http://www.kolesa.ru/news/2010/09/10/minoborony_priznalo_plany_sozdaniya_sp_po_vypusku_italyanskih_lmv_video v • d • e IVECO models Current models: Iveco Acco | Iveco Campagnola | Iveco Daily | Iveco Eurocargo | Iveco Eurofire | Iveco LMV | Iveco Massif | Iveco PowerStar | Iveco Stralis | Iveco Trakker Past models: Iveco EuroMover | Iveco EuroStar | Iveco EuroTech | Iveco EuroTrakker | Iveco EuroZeta | Iveco TurboStar | Iveco Zeta v • d • e Modern wheeled infantry fighting vehicles and personnel carriers 4 × 4 ACMAT • AGF Serval • Agrale Marrua • AMZ Dzik • AMZ Tur • AMZ Żubr • ATF Dingo • Austin Champ • AXE • Badger ILAV • BPM-97 • BOV • Bushmaster • Casspir • Cheetah MMPV • Cobra • Commando • Chaimite • Cougar H • Duro III • Dozor-B • Eagle • Enok • F2 • Fahd • FNSS Pars • Fennek • FTTS • FMC XR311 • G-Class • Golan • Grizzly • HMMWV • Honker • Iveco LMV • Kaya • Komatsu LAV • Land Rover Perentie • Land Rover Wolf • LOV-1 • M1117 Guardian • Mamba • Marine Multi-purpose Vehicle • Marauder (Mine Protected Vehicle) • Matador (Mine Protected Vehicle) • Maverick (Internal Security Vehicle) • Marksman • Mine Protected Combat Vehicle - MPCV • M-ATV • MaxxPro • Millenworks Light Utility Vehicle • Mungo ESK • MWMIK • MXT-MV • MX-1 Kalakian • MX-8 Barako • NIMR • Ocelot • OKA • Peugeot P4 • Pinzgauer • PVP • Piranha • Puma • Reva • RG-12 • RG-31 Nyala • RG-32 Scout • RG Outrider • RG-33 • RG-34 Iguana • RG-35 • S600 • Sand Cat • Santana Anibal • Saxon • Simba • Sherpa 2 • Storm • T-98 Kombat • Tiuna • Tempest MPV • Type 6614 • GAZ-2975 (Tigr) • UR-416 • URO VAMTAC • VAB • VBL • VPK-3927 Volk • VXB • Vodnik • Willys FAMAE Corvo • Wolf 6 × 6 ACMAT • Al-Faris 8-400 • Alvis Saracen • Arma • Patria AMV • AMX 10 RC • Armoured Multirole Carrier • AVGP Grizzly • BAE Caiman • Buffalo H • Ceradyne Bull • Cougar HE • Duro III • EE-9 Cascavel • EE-11 Urutu • ERC 90 Sagaie • F2 • FNSS Pars • Fuchs • Grizzly HPV • KTO Irbis • Land Rover Perentie • Mastiff PPV • MTVR • NIMR • Pandur 6x6 • Patria Pasi • Pindad Panser • Sibmas • Pasi • Pegaso BMR • Pegaso VEC-M1 • Pinzgauer • Piranha • Puma • Ratel • RG-33 • RG-35 • Shoet • TATRAPAN • WZ551 Type 92 • VBTP-MR • VAB • LKOV Valuk • Rheinmetall YAK 8 × 8 Al-Fahd • Arma • Patria AMV • ASLAV • AV-81 Terrex • Bison • Boxer MRAV • BTR-3 • BTR-4 • BTR-80 • BTR-90 • BTR-94 • Centauro VBC • CM-32 • Coyote • FNSS Pars • KTO Rosomak • KTO Ryś • Lazar BVT • LAV-25 • LAV III • SEP • Luchs • LVS • NZLAV • Pandur II 8x8 • Piranha • Rooikat • Saur 1 • Stryker • OT-64 SKOT • Tatra T815 • Type 96 • VBCI • VBTP-MR 10 × 10 LVSR • Piranha || Iveco From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Iveco S.p.A. Type Subsidiary Industry Manufacturing Founded 1975 in Turin Headquarters Turin, Italy Key people Paolo Monferino CEO Products Commercial vehicles, Military vehicles, Diesel engines Revenue € 10.8 billion (2008)[1] Employees 26,461 (2007)[2] Parent Fiat Website Iveco.com Iveco is an Italian truck, bus, and diesel engine manufacturer, based in Turin, Italy. It is a subsidiary of the Fiat Group, and produces around 200,000 commercial vehicles and 460,000 diesel engines annually, and for the year ended 2007 the company had €11,196 million in sales (revenues). The name is an acronym for Industrial Vehicle Corporation, an alliance among European commercial vehicle manufacturers such as Fiat (including OM and Lancia Veicoli Speciali), Unic and Magirus. Today the company is a significant player in the medium-duty trucks and engine markets, and is near the top for sales of passenger transport and 3.5 ton light vehicles.[citation needed] Contents 1 History 2 Engine production 3 Electric vehicles 4 Brands 5 Iveco vehicles 6 See also 7 References 8 External links [edit] History The company is dominated by Fiat Group, and was created on 1 January 1975 by Fiat manager and mechanical engineer Bruno Beccaria (1915–2001) through the merger of five companies operating in Italy, France and Germany; Fiat Veicoli Industriali (located in Turin), Officine Meccaniche (Brescia), Lancia Veicoli Speciali (Bolzano), Unic (Trappes) and Magirus (Ulm). In 1990, Iveco acquired 60% of ENASA, a leading truck manufacturer and makers of Pegaso brand of commercial vehicles in Spain. This was an important step in the history of Iveco since it became a local brand in all the leading European markets. With this acquisition, Iveco expanded its manufacturing locations to Barcelona, Valladolid and Madrid in Spain. In its early years, the company focused on rationalizing, integrating and optimizing the various manufacturing and commercial structures that had been independent until then, and the first centralized functional structure emerged. From a marketing viewpoint, these years saw the launch of the Daily (1978), the Turbo (1981) and the Turbostar (1984), three vehicles that symbolized Iveco's entrepreneurial success in Europe. In 1986 Ford's European commercial vehicle operation became part of the brand. Iveco had to overcome a crisis in the early 1990s, fuelled by increasingly fierce competition. In order to respond more effectively to the growing specialization of the market, Iveco broke its structure down into specialist corporate units that addressed specific customers divided by product type. In those years, the company continued to boost its strategic presence in the world. In 1992 Iveco purchased the Italian company, International Trucks Australia Limited, which still plays a very important role in the Pacific Rim. And Iveco Mercosul was created in Brazil in 1997, as a base for manufacturing and distribution operations all over South America. In 1995 the EuroClass luxury coach was voted International Coach of the Year, and in 1999 Iveco and Renault decided to combine their efforts in the public transport field by merging their respective bus operations. This merger included companies such as Heuliez and Karosa, and the result was Irisbus, one of the major manufacturers in the passenger transport sector, which was further strengthened by the acquisition of the Hungarian company Ikarusbus.[citation needed] Constantly growing attention was paid in those years to the integration of products and services, both to respond comprehensively to customers' requirements and to combat the extremely cyclic nature of the automotive market. This strategy led to the creation of Transolver in 1997, which took Iveco into the world of financial services. On the commercial front, in 1998 Iveco Ford's EuroCargo, which was sold in over ninety countries and led the market in Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria and Slovenia, was voted the "Best Imported Truck" in Germany. In 2000 it was the light segment that won awards, when the Daily was voted "International Van of the Year", and the one-millionth vehicle left the assembly line. In 2006 it produced the Ducato and the Scudo. In 2007 it produced the Fiorino. Today Iveco has 49 factories, 15 research and development facilities, 840 dealers, 31,000 employees, and is in 19 countries. 40% of the engines Iveco manufactures go to Iveco vehicles, 60% are sold as OEM units for use in automotive, industrial, agricultural, marine, and power generation applications. It is a major European producer of fire-fighting vehicles. In 2007, Iveco announced plans to reenter the United States truck market.[3] [edit] Engine production Iveco produces engines in three plants: SOFIM Foggia, Italy (8140-series), IVECO SpA Turin, Italy (8000 and NEF-series) and Bourbon-Lancy, France (Cursor-series). The Sofim was originally joint diesel engine enterprise of Fiat, Saviem and Alfa Romeo established in 1973[4] and was bought by Iveco in 1981.[5] [edit] Electric vehicles See also: Irisbus Iveco is making hybrid electric vehicles.[6] This includes:[7] Iveco Civis, tram on tyres.[8] In service in Rouen and Clermont-Ferrand (France) and Las Vegas (USA). Yes (1) / No Reply - Report abuse brian in Birmingham, United Kingdom 24 months ago I have an Iveco with warning lights coming on, the ABS, Brake and Injector lights intermitantly, this first came about when I had new keys re-coded, although that could have been co-incidental, I was also experiencing brake light failure, this was cured by my mechanic re-routeing the wiring to the brake light switch(s) this also cured the Injector warning light problem. Guest Motors (Birmingham) quoted £600 to take out the Dashboard to cure the wiring there, however I am reliably told that an (enthusiastic) auto electrician could sort this out without removing the Dash. So when I can find the time and money I will do so. I hope all that helps, good luck. Brian - Was this comment helpful? The head has been sent off and checked twice, as the first time No# 4 & 3 valves were replaced but not lapped in correctly, pistons were removed and the rings replaced. I then checked The piston protrusion and all were within tolerance. upon rebuilding and running we find that it runs rough, and there's a cuffing sound from the inlet there for i carried out a compression test with E.A.S.Y and manually but both state compression is low on number 3 and very low on 4, I then carried out a cylinder leakage test which showed no signs of excessive air escaping has any one had any faults like this before and is any one able to help please - Was this comment helpful? Yes / No Reply - Report abuse Danny in Norwich, United Kingdom 23 months ago Hi all, I hope you can help! I have a 98 3510 turbo daily 2.8, the problem is it starts okay, I leave it to idle as the previous owner said, then after 3 or 4 minutes it has no power. this has only just started and the weather has been pretty cold the last few days. It does not matter how much pedal I give it but if I take my foot off the pedal it stalls, when I re-start it it will rev a bit better and I can hear the turbo wind up then it will die down to tick over revs even with the pedal in the same place as when started. After 10-15 minutes it seems to want to rev but as soon as I pull away it will die to tick over with no power. I have only had the van a few weeks so have no long term knowledge of the van, the previous owner says it has not done it before! After idling along the road trying to get to work it will pull to about half power, although if I leave it switched off for about 10 minutes it starts and pulls fine. When it is on low power there is quite a lot of smoke it is not white but more like unburnt diesel, when it is running okay there is very little smoke at all. I hope one of you bright chaps can point me in the right direction, thank you all in anticipation. Danny - Was this comment helpful? Our mechanic (who ofcourse will not cover it under warranty) can not find any info on cylinder head tension! Seems like most of you had already done the job a few times...... can you please supply me with the info - I really need the van back on the road (only so it can brake down again!) as rental charges are killing us!!! When the engine is cold the cable is short, thereby adjusting the pump, when hot the cable is longer and should have a little free play. To get it started try manually moving the lever slightly, it only moves a few mmm anyway. Also check heater plugs are working, it needs at least 2/3 when cold. - Was this comment helpful? All is well then suddenly the revs drop for a split second, back again, drop off, back...kangaroo city!! Then it clears and all is well until it happens again. There is a relay ticking in the fusebox at the same time as the problem which we think is the fuel pump relay and from the front of the van we can hear a loud ticking (which sounds like a solenoid sort of clunk). The sound appears to be from around the exhaust manifold area or inside the rocker cover (if there is anything in there that might cause this). Our educated guess is that the engine management system is closing the fuel pump as part of the economy settings to prevent reving whilst braking due to a false reading somewhere. Are we on the right lines and if so any idea where this sensor is that will be causing the problem??? many thanks - Was this comment helpful? The effect is exactly the same as putting your foot on the brake (or dipping the clutch) with your foot still on the accelerator....the management system cuts the revs instantly and then returns them as the clutch/brake is released....Could well be a wire or sensor, any experts know what is around the manifold or inside the rockerr box area that might give these symptoms??
